Signal: All you need to know about the app
So, for the past few hours, Signal has been getting everyone’s attention when Elon Musk, (The new richest man in the world; read our post on ELON MUSK BECOMES WORLD RICHEST MAN) said on his twitter ‘Use Signal’ He pointed out that Signal is a much better app, and even without mentioning it, one would assume that he was drawing a comparison between Signal and Whatsapp. Elon Musk himself had had a few altercations with Facebook and Whatsapp because of their privacy policy which was said to be not as strong.
What is Signal?
Signal is a cross platform encrypted messaging service developed by Signal messenger and funded by donation through the Signal foundation. Through the internet, you can send messages, files, notes, videos and images. You could also use it to make group voice calls and personal video calls. In fact, it was initially released in 2014, but the preview version was not until three days ago.
Why Signal is better than other messenger app
1 You can use signal to send SMS messages (When you install it, it even asks if you would make it your default SMS app)
2 It allows users to automatically blur faces of people in photos to protect their identities. This is an anti-surveillance tool
3 The end to end encryption is high tech. It prevents law enforcements or snooping entities to read the content of your messages even if they intercept them.
4 It has extended on-screen privacy options.
5 It lets you independently verify other signal users’ identity
6 Signal has app specific locks
7 Signal is ranked 2nd while Whatsapp is ranked 57th
Cons
It has mandatory phone verification
You can download Signal on Google play store and Apple app store. The installation is easy-peasy and fast. For android users, it works for Android versions 4 and higher.
Therefore, after all this, would you decide to use Signal? Let us know in the comment section.
