The Most Anticipated 2024 Nigerian Albums
2023 was a great year for Nigerian music and we witnessed the release of some of the greatest albums in Nigerian history. To rewind, here are some of the great 2023 Nigerian album releases
• “Boy Alone” Deluxe Omah Lay
• “I Told Them” Burna Boy
• “Timeless” Davido
• “Rave and Roses” Ultra Rema
• “19& Dangerous” Deluxe Ayra Starr
• “Maverick” Kizz Daniel
• “Tio Tequila Ever After” Adekunle Gold
These amazing albums also had some international hit songs. Rema’s “Calm Down” remix has over a billion streams and charted in the top 10 of Billboard Hot 100, with Rave and Roses Ultra becoming the first African debut album to be certified Gold by the RIAA, and the Second African Album overall, after Wizkid’s “Made in Lagos”. The song also had hit songs like “Charm”
Davido’s Album “Timeless”, which earned him his first Grammy nomination, had one of the biggest hit songs of the summer “Unavailable”, and other hits like “Feel’, “Kante” and “Na Money”.

2024 Nigerian Albums to expect
1) Tems (Album Title to be released)
Tems has been teasing the release of her debut album since 2023, and has even released two singles “Me & U” and “Not an Angel to support the album. “Me & U” received international acclaim, and was even featured in Obama’s year end song list. It is no gainsaying that Tems’ debut album is one of the most anticipated 2024 Nigerian albums.
The singer has had success early in her career like no other Nigerian artist has, ever. She has charted a Number one song on Hot 100, another solo song on the Hot 100 and has a platinum record “Free Mind” all before the release of her debut album!
2) Fireboy DML (Album Title to be released)
Fireboy’s albums have always been hits. His latest album ‘Playboy” (released in 2022) featured multiple hit songs like the Billboard Hot 100 song “Peru”, and the successful single “Bandana”. Fireboy has always been in his bag. Already, he has released a couple of singles to support the release of his 2024 album. Although the songs have not gotten the huge recognition Fireboy’s singles always gets before an album release, it is no doubt that the album will perform exceptionally upon release. Fireboy’s album is definitely a 2024 Nigerian album to look forward to.
3) Zinoleesky (Album Title to be released)
This may come as a shock to a lot of people, but Zinoleesky does not have an album yet. He released an EP- “Grit and Lust” in 2022. Zinoleesky is more of a “singles” guy because his solo songs always do well, take for example his latest release “Sunny Ade”, and “Sakara” where he debunks the rumors of his involvement in Mohbad’s death. These singles wills serve as the leads for his album this year. Zinoleesky’s debut album is one of the 2024 Nigerian Albums to look forward to.
4) Tiwa Savage (Album Title to be released)
Tiwa Savage’s last album release was in 2020, when she released “Celia”. After then, she released “Water and Garri” EP in 2021, and that was it. Although the latter featured the hit song “Somebody’s Son”. Savage already released a couple of songs in 2023 to serve as leads for her album this year. They include “Stamina” with Young Jonn and Ayra Starr, “Loaded” with Asake. Both songs had their viral moments and did well on streaming platforms. Indeed, Savage’s album is a 2024 Nigerian album to expect.
5) Ayra Starr (Album Title to be released)
Ayra Starr’s debut album “19 & Dangerous” was in 2022. Although she supported this with the deluxe of the album, which brought her international recognition with the release of her hit songs “Rush” and “Sability”, Ayra is expected to release another album in 2024, as she is already teasing a new song on her Instagram, unofficially titled “Commas”. She also released “Rhythm and Blues” in late 2023, after embarking on her world Tour. She might also want to do a quick follow up following her latest Grammy nomination for “Rush”
6) Simi (Album Title to be released)
Simi has been hinting another album release since late 2023. She released her third studio album “To be Honest” in 2022. Meanwhile, “To be Honest” was not as solid or did the numbers a Simi album would do. Not to say she’s slipping, but there seems to be a less intention to make hits with “To be Honest” as there was with “Simisola” and “Omo Charlie Champagne”.
The singer was recently featured on the remix of Spyro’s song “Only Fine Girl”. Simi’s album is for sure one of the most antiquated 2024 Nigerian albums to look forward to
7) Omah Lay (Album Title to be released)
Omah Lay has been on a superb winning streak since he released “Boy Alone”, his debut album in 2022. The album featured the hit song “Soso”, and “Bend You”. Boy Alone would later enjoy more success with the release of “Reason” another home-grown hit song for Omah Lay. Although it may seem like Omah would take a rest since his songs are still doing very well on streaming platforms, especially “Boy Alone” Deluxe which has not departed the Top 10 Nigerian Apple Music Albums. The singer released another hit song “Holy Ghost” which would be a lead single for his forthcoming studio album in 2024.
