About Gangs of Lagos
In Isale Eko, Obalola was born. It would seem that his birth was to a notorious kingpin, but to a somewhat pious mother. Obalola’s father died at a young age- the contributing factor based on his involvement in the street politics of Isale Eko and wanting to rule the streets.
However, despite Iya Oba’s (Character played by Iyabo Ojo) insistence and prayers that Obalola not turn out to be his father, he only longs to be in his father’s erstwhile position, and his wishes are granted. The major contributing factor to this must have been that Obalola was literally raised on the streets, and he believed that his survival was dependent on his ability to dominate.
Now that Obalola (Character played by Tobi Bakre) is all grown up, he rules Isale Eko with terror, along with his band of loyal street fighters. It would seem Gift (Character played by Adesua Etomi-Wellington) is his sergeant and may be his love interest. A betrayal happens between one of Isale Eko’s street lords concerning Gift and now, Obalola must have revenge.
Meanwhile, when you rule people with terror, it’s only a matter of time till they turn on you and become loyal to their own interests, or someone that could serve them at the moment.
This only leads to a feud, and then a war that kills so many people. At the end of the day, a power grab ensues and only the strongest can win.
Gangs of Lagos streams on Prime Video Naija from Friday, April 7, 2023. The movie is directed by Jade Osiberu (Noted for Isoken)

How Prime Video Nigeria works
Currently, Prime Video Nigeria has over 20,000 content i.e. Original movies and TV Shows.
This means Nigerians can as well be hooked on the platform as long as they want to. There will always be content to watch even though the content may not be entirely Nollywood.
The reason for this is that Prime Video has already launched in some parts of Africa and now has over 600,000 subscribers.
Prime Video Nigeria attests that subscription costs as low as #2,300 per month after a 7 day trial. This low subscription rate is more likely to draw Nigerians to Prime Video Nigeria because it costs as low as $6.
Meanwhile, Prime Video Nigeria has already added some top Nollywood movies like “Gangs of Lagos” which is a new movie entirely. The hope is that when Gangs of Lagos is released, since it is licensed exclusively on Prime Video Nigeria and Nigerians will have no choice but to watch it on the platform since it stars Adesua Etomi and Tobi Bakre.
Also, popular filmmaker and Director Niyi Akinmolayan, has signed a multi-year multi-project deal with Prime Video Nigeria to produce several Nollywood content for the platform.
