Tio Tequila Album Review

“Chasing Peace of Mind” is a very sonic sound that eases you into a state where you feel relaxed and your mind sets aside all the worries that comes with life at that moment. This is a very wonderful intro for Tio Tequila Ever After album. The production of this particular song is genuinely mind-blowing.

The only flaw is the vocals of the lady inserted in the hook, it’s totally unnecessary and disrupts the flow of the song. Infact, no collaboration was needed on this track, it’s perfect without one, no disrespect to Habib Koite and Ami

“Soro” is what Adekunle Gold would sing but now, with a spice of AG Baby. It sounds like the renewed version of AG Baby- the AG Baby of “Catch me if you Can” his 2022 album.

“Tio Baby” is Adekunle Gold’s attempt at a perfect R&B record, but the truth is that Adekunle Gold has never been that perfect with contemporary R&B but does well with Afrobeats R&B. If Rema were to sing this track- Tio Baby, it would definitely be a chart-topping record, but this song will most likely be ignored on the album because we are not used to hearing songs like this from Adekunle Gold- maybe it’s the imperfect delivery, or just that we are not used to it.

“Wrong Person” ft. Odumodu BLVCK is actually a really well-made record. Adekunle Gold obviously had a clear cut vision in mind while making this record. Adekunle Gold Tio Tequila Album Review shows that Odumodu is not the artist for this song. No. Not at all. Why not Burna Boy?

Adekunle Gold’s amazing verse on this song was put in the underwhelming shadow of Odumodu’s verse so much that it will make this song a forgettable one on the album. Burna Boy would have killed this song!

“Don’t be a Baby” bears an awful resemblance to AG Baby’s own 2020 record with Patoranking “Pretty Girl”. It almost sounds as if that record itself was sampled on this song. With that, it manages to sound like a god enough attempt by Adekunle Gold to deliver a dancehall track.

The thing is that Adekunle Gold has never been the bad boy, so listening to songs like this from him is a little “too much” for his average listeners. It doesn’t “sound right” (lots of laugh), but it is actually a jam. And I bet if it was written by Ruger, everyone would go crazy in the club.

“Do you Mind” sounds like a beat down version like “Don’t be a Baby”, so it’s almost gets swallowed up by “Don’t be a Baby” which is actually a more well-written version.

“Sisi Ganja” has a catchy chorus and hook. However, it shouldn’t have come immediately after “Don’t be a Baby” and “Do you mind?” since they bear the same theme.

“Make it Easy” ft. Coco Jones is easily one of the best songs on this album. Coco Jones opening this song deserves an applaud. It’s a really good call and both artists delivered on the track wholesomely.

“Not my Problem” deserves a female collaboration. Gyakie? Ayra Starr or even Tems? Adekunle Gold could not carry this song alone because it is a storytelling track and would be best if it deserves a second voice to offer a counter opinion- which would have made it more entertaining and memorable.

“Kere” should have come up earlier, way earlier. It came too late on the album. It celebrates Adekunle Gold’s new status in the industry and it confers AG Baby’s real status in the industry as someone who has come far and holds as much respect as the other well-celebrated Afrobeats artists.

“Look what you made me do” ft. Simi is confirmation that we will always get a vocally stimulating song from both artists but almost never a hit because they are both professional singers and producers and the emphasis is on songwriting and production. Or maybe they never have that in mind and just want to make a cool record. It’s an enjoyable track nonetheless.

“Omo Eko” sounds like a real club banger, or a banger sound overall. It has the vibes of “Party no dey stop“

“Come back to me” ft. Khalid is a well-made R&B record. It will resonate more with people who really love true R&B songs. It sounds like something Johnny Drille would write.

“Falling Up” ft Pharell Williams is another surprisingly upbeat song from this album that makes it sounds more like Adekunle Gold should probably consider doing more of dancehall tracks because he delivers and performs them effortlessly. The beat is overwhelming, but the song does not disappoint. Also, can we give it up to the real OG on this track with AG- Pharell Williams with the amazing hooks!

“To my own” would have been removed from this album and it would still make a wholesome album. It sounds like a personal song, and infact, this is what Omah Lay would write and it would be an instant hit. Although, on second thoughts, Omah Lay should have definitely been on this track.

“All my life” should have come before “To my own” as “To my own” sounds more like a perfect album closer.

Adekunle Gold’s album will grow on you because of the wealth of its production and songwriting. It is a bunch of freshly made sounds that sounds really amazing. However, the absence of certain collaborations on some track make them sound incomplete or underwhelming. Only the collaborations with Coco Jones and Pharell hit home. The one with Odumodu should have been replaced with another artist who could actually do justice to the song- Burna Boy preferably. Also, the new school artists on some of the songs would have been perfect.
