5 ALBUMS YOU SHOULD EXPECT THIS YEAR
2020 came with a lot of artists dishing out wonderful body of works left right and center, and we enjoyed every bit of it! From Wizkid’s ‘Made in Lagos’ to Burna boy’s ‘Twice as tall’ to Tiwa Savage’s ‘Celia’. We would not also forget Olamide’s ‘Carpe diem’, Omah Lay’s ‘What have we done’, Simi’s ‘Restless 2’, Yemi Alade’s ‘Empress’ and Patoranking’s ‘Three’.
But we knew they weren’t done, and with the recent announcements of new albums coming from our favorite artists, we cannot but share how excited we are about some of them!

5 Ric Hassani
Ric Hassani has been in the music industry for quite a while now, and even though some people might not know him, his music is still one of the best out there. Ever since the release of his first album ‘The Gentleman’ in 2017, he has been getting attention for his music and releasing cool singles back to back. However, this month, Ric announced that his sophomore album titled ‘The prince I became’ would be released on February 26, 2021.
His fans were very excited about this album because they have really missed a whole body of work from Ric and are sure he wouldn’t disappoint them.
4 Simi
Simi is like the Rihanna of music in Nigeria. Her sound is unique and she is such an excellent songwriter. She has been ruling the industry since 2016 and the releases of her albums ‘Simisola’ and ‘Omo Charlie Champagne’ in 2017 and 2019 respectively saw her gain massive attention both home and abroad. Simi released her second EP last year. It was titled ‘Restless 2’ a follow up on her debut EP titled ‘Restless’.
It is only reasonable for her to release a new body of work this year because it seems we can’t just get enough of her and she keeps getting better with each project. I mean, if you haven’t listened to ‘Restless 2’ her latest EP, you should. It is a perfect pure R&B project.

3 MR EAZI

Tosin Ajibade or MR EAZI as he is popularly known, broke into the music scene like a wildfire. Honestly, his rise to stardom is impressive, very impressive. One of the things that made him so successful is that, like Yemi Alade, he is very versatile and is not too Nigerian based. MR EAZI sings with famous Latino singers, has ties with Ghana and has millions of fans abroad. He even has a collaboration with Nicki Minaj and was one of the first two Nigerians to perform in Coachella among very popular American artists. MR EAZI released his debut album ‘Life is Eazi vol 1 in 2017 and has made an announcement on Instagram that his next album would be released soon, although we haven’t quite had a grasp of when

2 Johnny Drille
On this list, this album is the one I am most intrigued about. I have been a Johnny Drille fan for a long time and with the releases of ‘Halleluya ft. Simi’, ‘Grace (cover), Romeo and Juliet and recently, Mystery girl, my love for his songs keeps getting stronger. This month, Johnny Drille announced on Facebook that his five year long album would finally be released this year as he just completed the project.
1 Rema
Show of hands if you believe Rema is going to be the next Wizkid, maybe even better because he is so young and he had his breakout very early. Rema is the new kid on the block but his success has been great so far. He has been one of the most streamed artist on spotify in Nigeria and his songs are very much appreciated overseas.
Rema released his EP in 2019, and has so far been on everyone’s lip because of how good he is, and with his announcement of an album. Fans are gearing up to massively stream the album no matter what!
Honorable Mention
Teni
Album: Wondaland
Teniola Apata or Teni as she is known, declared that her ‘Wondaland’ album would be released in March 2021, the exact date is still unknown but we know she is not going to disappoint us. Besides, she is a hit maker and we expect nothing from the best from her!
What do you think and which album are you expectant of, even if it is not on this list? Let us know in the comment section!
