Anthill studios the producers of critically acclaimed projects such as ‘King of Thieves’ and ‘Elevator Baby’ are adding another film to their growing list of diverse Nigerian films.
The House of Secrets is part of the slate of films to be produced by Anthill for Amazon Prime Video as part of their multi-year deal. The House of Secrets is directed by Niyi Akinmolayan [Wedding Party 2 and The Set Up], Victoria Akunjobi joins as Producer and Barney Emodi as the Director of Photography.
As is common with Anthill Studios films of late, most of the sets in The House of Secrets are built from scratch, but what’s interesting about The House of Secrets is some parts of the film is shot on a moving train and the train set was also built from scratch, it would be nice to see how it all comes together. The cast and crew wrapped up principal photography on April 4th and was shot in Lagos for about a month.
The film is shot in two different time periods, the 90’s and present day. With the 90’s portion of the film being shot as a film noir. It’s entirely in black and white.
The House of Secrets is a spy-thriller that explores themes like romance, love, and betrayal. Niyi Akinmolayan described it as “also a romance drama in some parts”. He also said the film is loosely based on Nigeria’s transition from military rule to democratic rule in 1999.
