Halle Angel Song review: A Worthy debut?
Halle Bailey, one half of popular music duo- Chloe x Halle, just debuted her solo music titled âAngelâ, and here is our critical review of it.
Halle Angel Review
According to Halle, Angel was a song she wrote in the process of filming âThe Little Mermaidâ, to remind herself of her power, her strength and the light she carried as a black girl. The song emphasizes the importance of self-belief, especially in oneâs own skin and inner strength. But does it make for a worthy debut? Letâs find out. Here is Halle Angel Review
Halle Angel Review: The Lyrics
One thing that makes Halleâs Angel standout is its in-depth lyricism. In its attempt to appeal to the emotional and inspirational side of people of color, it doesnât overflog the use of phrases that people use cyclically to celebrate people of color, but personalizes the message in such a way that it is impossible to get the juice of the lyrics in just a single listen. The most memorable lyrics are: âYour wings canât pull you downâ âEven if Angels fall, they fall on cloudsâ.
For a solo debut, Halle is going on in and showcasing her songwriting talent meticulously in curating a piece of art that sounds so dear to her heart
Are there flaws in the lyrics? Not at all actually. The precision of the message to Black people makes it even more of an applaudable record.
Halle Angel Review: The Visuals
If thereâs something about BeyoncĂ©âs ProtĂ©gĂ©s- Chloe and Halle, they learnt the importance of visual storytelling from their mentor- BeyoncĂ©. Although their style of music is not entirely similar to that of BeyoncĂ©, the visual representation is as precise, stunning and aimed at perfection.
The ethereal images of Halleâs Angel music video is noteworthy. Kudos on that too.
Delivery
In the first seconds of listening, Angel comes off as slightly overwhelming for its piano almost operatic-like production. But as the song progresses, we understand that to pass on a soulful record like that, Halle angel review shows that she needed to spare no expense of her soothing yet stimulating vocals to hit some very high notes, and yes, a whistle at the end of the chorus, making it almost sound like Ariana Grande.
The delivery is amazing and exalts the song lyrics.
Halle Angel Review
For a solo debut, this is an incredible worthy debut. Halle is stepping her feet into the world of music as a solo artist and will appeal more to the pop audience, although she sounds like she could sing any genre of music. However, she sounds more pop than R&B, and hopefully, this record will be classified as Pop and not R&B just because sheâs Black.
Check out the lyricsÂ
“Angel”
Do you ever make it out of your head?
Do you still swim in your thoughts?
Do you still mistake your flaws for property?
Something that just don’t sit right with you
But Heaven knows, Heaven knows
Your wings can’t weight you down
Angels make a way somehow
And if we fall, we fall on clouds
Black girl here, black girl with the black girl hair
Took a little sunkiss just to look like this
God sent, you’re an angel (Angel)
Angel (Angel)
Angel (Angel)
Angel (Angel)
Heaven wears your halo
They know you’re an angel (Angel)
Angel (Angel)
Angel (Angel)
Angel (Angel)
I’m a big deal
I get sick and tired of holdin’ it in
Rich blood, you can probably see the gold in my skin
I’m more than a girl, won’t let the troubles of the world
Your wings can’t weight you down
But angels make a way somehow
And if we fall, we fall on clouds
Black girl here, black girl with the black girl hair
Took a little sunkiss just to look like this
God sent, you’re an angel (Angel)
Angel (Angel)
Angel (Angel)
Angel (Angel)
Heaven wears your halo
They know you’re an angel (Angel)
Angel (Angel)
Angel (Angel)
Angel (Angel)
Some might hate and they wait on your fall (Oh)
They don’t know there’s a grace for it all (Oh)
My flaws don’t make me
Beautiful and real, all you fake cannot compare
Oh, you’re perfectly a masterpiece
And all of me, even my scars
Even my scars, yeah
Black girl here, black girl with the black girl hair
Took a little sunkiss just to look like this
God sent, you’re an angel (Angel)
Angel (Angel)
Angel (Angel)
Angel (Angel)
Heaven wears your halo
They know you’re an angel (Angel)
Angel (Angel)
Angel (Angel)
Angel (Angel)
