Doctor Strange offers to help him by making everyone forget his identity. But there is a hitch. Those who love Spider man and knew him as Spider man before, would completely forget his identity too. These alterations corrupt the spell and bring certain people from other universes to earth. These people knew Peter’s identity before. These people were Otto Octavius (Character played by Molina), Norman Osborn (Character played by Willem Dafoe), Flint Marko/Sandman (Character played by Thomas Haden Church) and Max Dillon (Character played by Jamie Foxx)

However, these villains were taken from their universes before their death and Peter suggested that before Doctor Strange send them back to their universes, their insanity should be cured. Doctor Strange disagrees with this and Peter traps him in “The Mirror Dimension”.

“The Mirror Dimension” is similar to a mirror, it makes the surrounding to reflect in different direction without having any effect on the real world. Peter takes the villains into the apartment of Happy Hogan (Character played by Jon Favreau)

Peter succeeds in curing Octavius but Norman Osborn, Sandman and Curt Connors are a lost cause. They attack Peter and his sister before he can heal them. Norman Osborn kills Aunt May in the fight and Peter is astounded by this. He is completely devastated.

Chief Daddy 2 movie Review

For reasons best known to the production team and the makers of “Chief Daddy”, “Chief Daddy 2: Going for Broke” was scheduled for a Netflix rather than a cinematic release. The streaming platform for the movie is not at all the problem.

After all, it wouldn’t matter what streaming/viewing platform was used if the movie is good enough. “Citation” (2020) was released on Netflix, making it Kunle Afolayan’s first Netflix Film. The movie was good enough that Nigerians wouldn’t regret spending millions of money to see it if it were to be released to cinemas. But with Chief Daddy 2, this tendency cannot be entirely entertained.

True, the original release of “Chief Daddy” in 2018 was a hit because even though the storyline was a common one, the originality was there. However, “Chief Daddy 2: Going for Broke” has so much left to satisfy.

Chief daddy 2 review

Chief Daddy 2 poster

The Plot
From the beginning of the movie, you start wondering if the character of “Laila” (Portrayed by Rahama Sadau), and the events she brought with her is able to create enough substantial conflict and background needed to make the movie thrilling and interesting.

This answer is answered in the negative when attention is shifted entirely to “Big Money Famzy”– Femi Beecroft (Character portrayed by Folarin Falana/ Falz The Bahd Guy) The question that hangs in the air is:

“Does the fate of the entire Beecroft family now rest on the success of Big Money Famzy’s career?”

It seems like the movie was set to portray this very question from the start, and we are so disappointed that although Big Money Famzy actually goes to Dubai to promote his music career, at the end of the day, it is not what saves the Beecroft Family.

True, it was shown that he started gaining some recognition, and his music video almost hit one million views, but is this why the Beecroft family are back on their feet? We should remember that Dammy Baggio (Character played by Mawuli Gavor) had to speak to Laila (Character played by Rahama Sadau) to give them 20 million dollars.

Even the thought of this is entirely ludicrous. The realism of Laila giving 20 million dollars for something that will not bring substantial profit return is questionable.

Investments are not done that way, and this portraiture of investment sits on the need to rush the plot so as to reach a resolution to the Beecroft’s family many problems.

The more confusing thing is that the essence of Laila’s character is not heightened enough to show why she is a threat to the Beecrofts. How exactly did she become the CEO and why was it not spelled out in Chief Daddy’s will?

There are lot of questions we are providing guesses rather than answers to, and this doesn’t help our complete understanding of the film at all.

“Chief Daddy 2/ Chief Daddy: Going for Broke” tries to thrive on an overstretched plot, because even the scenes where all the family gather to discuss their woes and foes, are beginning to get tiring to watch.

We don’t see the essence of it sometimes. Big Money Famzy’s sub-plot takes over the original plot of the movie so much that the movie becomes about his music career rather than solving the Beecroft’s family problems.

The overall point of the plot is that Big Money Famzy tries to solve his family’s problems with his music career. This is not a bad plot, but it could have been very much better and be made to fit into a sub-plot that it is rather than mirroring it as the original plot of the movie.

Even the other plots like Dammy’s romantic life pale into insignificance in comparison to Big Money Famzy’s career. But the height of it all, is that the whole family do nothing to get out of their situation.

We see complaints, abuses and threats, but we don’t see them do anything. This takes away all the tension we are supposed to feel in the movie.

Read: Chief Daddy 2 Cast

At the end of “Chief Daddy” (2018), the arrival of Laila (Character played by Rahama Sadau) made us feel so pumped about “Chief Daddy 2”, but as the story progresses, we feel no tension, we don’t enjoy the conflict as we should, and we can already conclude the story at the middle of the film.

It is even funnier when Laila comes suddenly at the end, makes a speech, “joins” the Beecroft family and dances with them wholeheartedly. We understand the need to end the film quickly, but this rushed “fitting in fine” relationship doesn’t work like that, especially in settings like Nigeria.

The Music-Sport entertainment in Beecroft industries; “How’s that success for the Beecroft family”?. It doesn’t feel like success at all, we could feel the Beecroft’s family’s defeat, but that is not the problem, the problem is that their defeat was portrayed as actual success.

Acting
On the other hand, much of the acting in “Chief Daddy 2” is on point. The characters put in their best to make the movie an interesting one. Big Money Famzy/Femi Beecroft shines with his British Accent and morphs well into his character.

Teni (Character played by Funke Akindele) also puts in a lot in her character, especially the scene where she tries to deal with Nike Williams (Character played by Shaffy Bello) and the customer that insults them for lack of good customer service.

Unfortunately, as a result of the threadbare plot, we do not get to see some actors add more sauce to the movie. Ekanem (Character played by Ini Edo) has very few words to say in the movie and she is around only during meeting times.

“Chief Daddy” is a star-studded movie, but that is not the problem. The problem is how best to use a star-studded cast so that their power is combined to make the movie as interesting and hilarious as it should be.

Relatability
“Chief Daddy” (2018) was a common story, but it was relatable. Everyone enjoyed the movie because of its originality, but with “Chief Daddy 2/ Chief Daddy: Going for Broke”, it is a far shot. In movies that company takeovers happen, things get tense, especially if both parties involved are powerful.

Have you read? Nigerian artists with highest monthly listeners on spotify (January 2022)

We do not get to see any of this in the movie. There is little or no power play to make the ownership tussle interesting. We can’t even feel Dammy Baggio’s pain as much as it is made to appear real.

Setting
When you hear that the setting of “Chief Daddy 2” was in Dubai, you get excited because you think the setting will add to the glitz of the movie, but this does not happen because we do not see enough of Dubai as we ought to.

In fact, it gets to a point that we don’t think the characters are really in Dubai, the excitement for the setting is not there, and it is not used to the uttermost to capture our attention and make us more interested in the movie.

“Chief Daddy 2/ Chief Daddy Going for Broke tries to show how a powerful family handle the crisis of being demoted, but there are many links missing in the story, the action is good, but the plot is unfinished and overstretched.

There is still the feeling that our satisfaction is not catered to because our questions are not answered, and the relatability is far from us because it doesn’t complete its connection to us.

“Chief Daddy 2” is not a bad movie, but the plot shows that it could have been improved to make it a better story.

Plot: 0.7/2
Acting: 1.4/2
Relatability: 1.1/2
Setting: 1/2
Satisfaction/Replay value: 0.9/2
Total: 5/10

Chief Daddy 2 Cast:

■Plot
At the end of Chief Daddy 1, a woman shows up which may or may not be another of Chief Daddy’s wife. In Chief Daddy 2, the woman is a Majority Shareholder in Chief Daddy’s company. The Beecroft family are angered by the news. But that is not even the major problem.

Rumors start flying everywhere that the Beecroft Family are very broke. Unfortunately, those rumors are true.

The money and inheritance Chief Daddy left them has not cleared and the company’s IPO is near. Something has to be done quickly to make that dream happen.

Mrs. Beecroft- (character played by Joke Silva) wants them to come together and hatch a plan to get their inheritance and money. Chief Daddy’s sister- Aunty Ajoke (Character played by Rachel Oniga) disagrees because not only does she hate Mrs. Beecroft, she claims she didn’t welcome them into the family upon their arrival.

Mrs. Beecroft is even more annoyed because her birthday is near and though Shoffa Donatus (character played Nkem Owoh) and Madam Pat (Patience Ozwokor) try to plan the party, there is no money to plan it

It is only very reasonable that some sub-plots are created in Chief Daddy 2 because the original plot may not be enough to sustain the duration of the movie. In one of the subplots, we have a continuation of the events in Chief Daddy 1

Adaora (character played by Beverly Naya) is now in a relationship with Damilare (Character played by Mawuli Gavor) who is Chief Daddy’s first son. Damilare is a footballer and a fan kisses him. This sparks insecurity emotions in Adaora and she contemplates the trust in the relationship.

On the other hand, Femi Beecroft (Character played by Falz the Bahd Guy) sees that he needs to do something about his Music Career which had always made people term him as “Untalented” after someone told him to get out of the studio. His “vibrant” solution –which he got from a popular artiste, is to go on a Dubai trip to enhance his music career.

He goes alongside Chief Daddy’s adopted daughter Justina (Character played by Ihuoma Ejiofor) and his girlfriend Sandra (Character played by Beverly Osu)

As the Beecroft’s family battle with their different worries, something must be done quickly to stop rumors about them, to get their money and inheritance out. But this solely rests on one thing- Unity, which seems to be something they find hard to relate to due to their many differences and disputes.

The first edition of the movie saw the death of a very rich man- Chief Beecroft. Who, after his death, several new wives and children showed up to claim he is their father/husband.

This rancor led to so much conflict at his funeral party. Unfortunately, the billions his family was looking to inherit could not be cleared immediately because his company was involved in a process that held the money up.

Now, while “Chief Daddy 2” which will rather be released on Netflix, is a continuation of the first edition- “Chief Daddy”, it will have a different plot to the latter.

The second part of Chief Daddy to be released on Netflix is titled “Chief Daddy 2: Going for broke”

Plot

Major additions made to the cast include: Broda Shaggi and Uzor Arukwe

“Chief Daddy 2: Going Broke” will make quite an impression in Nigeria upon its release because of the success it had earlier recorded with the release of the first part- “Chief Daddy”. It promises new scenes and sub-plots. Although it may not contain the outright originality, content and freshness of the first part, it will enjoy some attention in Nigeria”

Is “The Matrix Resurrections” a good movie? {Review}

Is “The Matrix Resurrections” a good movie? {Review}

Is the “Matrix resurrections” a good movie? Review

The announcement of “The Matrix Resurrections” really put everyone in such a good mood that we just could not wait for its release. The reason for this is because it seems like the beginning of a continual renewal in the Matrix installments after the release of “The matrix” (1999), “The Matrix Reloaded” (2003), “The Matrix Revolutions” (2003), and now with the release of “The Matrix Resurrections” (2021) which is 18 years after the release of the last one in The Matrix Franchise.

However, after the world premiere of “The Matrix Resurrections” on December 16, 2021, people’s reactions have been relatively mixed. These reactions are simply based on the fact that some think “The Matrix Resurrections” is not a good movie while others think otherwise.

But is “The Matrix Resurrections” a good movie? Let’s see!

■Plot
For someone who hasn’t been a fan of the Matrix, or let’s just say, for most of us who have seen the movie since ten years, grasping the entirety of the plot may be a problem. The plot itself is not the major problem. The plot arrangement is.

“The Matrix Resurrection” seems like it was arranged to move in circles before arriving at the original intent of the movie. We get that Neo (Character played by Keanu Reeves) is trying to discover the actuality of his person and escape from his trap, but at a point, it seems like that was not the major intent of the plot, his adversary- Smith was.

Ed Sheeran nails his verse on “Peru” remix: {Review}

However, the tables of the plot begin to turn again when we discover that freeing Trinity(Character played by Carrie-Anne Moss) is now the focus of the plot. We get that there is a major plot and there are sub-plots, but these sub-plots should have been signposted as clear as possible. In a vast developed setting as “The Matrix Resurrections”, one can easily get lost in what is happening and what is not.

The point remains that while the plot, not being perfect, can still work as the backbone for “The Matrix Resurrections”, this hope was reduced when different events and sub-plots began to clash into each other.

it’s no longer news that “The Matrix” originally has a complex movie structure, but this is not a problem at all. The problem is trying to break down this complex structure to people and showing them the simplicity of the complex structure at the end of the story.

However, with “The Matrix Resurrections”, it really doesn’t work like that, you get to a point and you are like “Oh…so this is the purpose of the story”, then you get to another point and you realize you were wrong.

All the convolutions should have been taken care of so it doesn’t become hard to follow the movie.

While still saying the plot is actually a good one (but too meshed), it would have helped if the plot was not stretched too thin. It got to a point that I had to force myself to follow the movie so I could see where it actually ends.

The process of following Neo’s discovery of himself got too monotonous. Even the fighting scenes came too late, and when they did, they no longer retained the power they ought to have.

One thing that would have helped the plot was if Trinity’s life had been explored. I mean, the major part of the plot was about her too, but this part was only narrated from Neo’s point of view; from his own life story.

If anything, her story seemed more intriguing and adventurous than Neo’s own. She had a fake family and children. This was worth exploring, but too much time was spent on Neo and his rediscovery. The consequence of this was that the plot was stretched too thin.

■Screenwriting
Whoever wrote the script of “The Matrix Resurrections” deserves their applause. While it is easy to get lost in the plot, the dialogue of the characters and their information delivery brings us back to the story and makes us understand what is really going on.

Although the effect wears off gradually, we felt the effect of the “mysterious” storyline and events of “The Matrix Resurrections” for some minutes through the dialogue of the characters. If anything, the scriptwriting is what makes the movie understandable enough.

It acts as a connection between the events and the characters, and inspires viewers to continue seeing the movie.

Read: The best sites to download subtitles for movies and tv series

Meanwhile, the writing suffers some loopholes when we find it hard to feel the effect of dialogues by The General (Character played by Jada Pinkett Smith) and the comedy that was infused into the movie. This attempt is commendable, but the comic relief could not be felt because tension had not be created.

The question of what exactly we should be scared of hangs in the air for a long, long time, that when we actually know what the heroes are up against, we don’t feel the kind of heightened anxiety and worry that we ought to feel.

■Casting
Keanu Reeves tries to be the hero of the movie, but it’s hard to picture him in such a position because we do not really see him as one no matter how many times the characters try to emphasize his abilities and their respect for him.

Although Keanu’s delivery could have been worked on, he puts in the effort to portray his characterization well and deliver to a certain extent.

We do not really get attached to the other characters as such, although the captain- Bugs seemed to stand out among them, we do not really care about the other characters as such and we do not get awed completely by their performance. We are not too invested in any of them to care what happens to them.

Have you read? Why Cruella is one of the best 2021 movies

While Bugs (Character played by Jessica Henwick) and Morpheus (Character played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) seem to capture our attention each time, the same can not be said of the other characters. This does not seem like the fault of the actors themselves but it seems like a characterization problem.

The surprising thing is why anyone would cast Priyanka Chopra as a minor character in a movie such as “The Matrix”. I was actually looking forward to seeing Priyanka in the movie, and although her character came in very late, each moment she took in each scene was felt. She completely delivered.

Priyanka chopra matrix resurrections. is it a good movie

If anything, she should have been cast in a major role. This would have sustained interest in the movie because the basic truth is that Priyanka knows how to put so much life into the most boring of characters.

■Setting
“The Matrix Resurrections” does not fall short on setting. The setting is as intriguing and jaw-dropping as it should be. It completely registers the mood and atmosphere of each scene and exalts the relatability of the movie.

The fact that the setting also changes frequently, with each scene registering a different setting, transcends the monotony of the movie and makes it a bearable watch.

So is “The Matrix Resurrections” a good movie? Take away the plot complications and character underdevelopment and it could actually pass for a good enough watch. The setting and scriptwriting is done well, but the characters should have been more developed, the plot could have had a better structure, and the events should have been more connected.

Plot: 1/2
Setting: 1.5/2
Screenwriting: 1.3/5
Casting: 1.2/2
Enjoyability: 0.8/2
Total: 5.8/10

■Cast
Keanu Reeves as Thomas Anderson. He was fixed by machines after his death and in order to aid easy control of him, his memories were suppressed.

Carrie-Anne Moss as Tiffany/Trinity. Her memories were also suppressed through a presentation of the charade that she is a mother of two kids. She is Neo’s love interest.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Morpheus who freed Neo from his suppression

Jessica Henwick as Bugs. She is the captain of “The Hovercraft” and she strongly encourages her team to fight for Neo and Trinity’s freedom while making sacrifices for her actions.

Jonathan Groff as Smith. He is Thomas Anderson’s business partner

Neil Patrick Harris as The Analyst. He is Thomas’ therapist who is the actual creator of The Matrix

Priyanka Chopra Jonas as Sati who was saved by Neo during the Machine War

Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe. She is the General of “The Hovercraft” and reluctantly agrees to free Trinity.

■Minor Characters
• Lambert Wilson as The Merovingian

• Christina Ricci as Gwyn de Vere

• Toby Onwumere as Sequoia the Operator of the Mnemosyne.

• Max Riemelt as Shepherd

• Brian J. Smith as Berg

• Eréndira Ibarra as Lexy a crew member of the Mnemosyne who idolizes Trinity.

• Telma Hopkins as Freya

• Chad Stahelski as Chad Tiffany’s husband.
