Today, August 19, 2021 marks the 50th birthday of comedian and Actor Ayo Makun popularly called AY
For many who do not know, Ay Makun revolutionized the Nigerian Cinema with the release of his first cinematic movie titled “30 days in Atlanta”. The movie was a blockbuster and was the highest grossing Nollywood movie of 2016 and the highest grossing Nollywood movie for 5 years (Record broken by “Living in bondage breaking free”)
Meanwhile, he did not stop there! With 3 more movies in the Top Ten highest grossing Nollywood movie and 5 movies on the list of Highest Nollywood Movies, the man has been dubbed “The King of Nigerian Box office”.

His movies have a total box office gross of about #1.5 Billion . They are: “30 days in Atlanta” (163M), “10 days in Suncity” (173M), “A Trip to Jamaica” (180M), “Merry Men: The Yoruba Demons” (235M), “Merry Men 2: Another mission” (234M)
AY Makun started out as a comedian and his movies reflect his talents as a versatile comedian and storyteller. AY has come a long way in the entertainment industry and always makes mention of the fact that he was in fact, not rich at all when he started out.
Meanwhile, being so rich and successful now, 50 sure does look good on him!
