It’s the season to be jolly. Jade Osiberu’s new film- Christmas in Lagos is on its way.
Jade Osiberu, the creator of one of Nollywood’s most critically acclaimed romcoms ‘Isoken’ has made a return to the genre after diving into the action-genre waters with ‘Gangs of Lagos’ and ‘Brotherhood’ but this time, it’s a lot more glamorous.
Set in December, during the Christmas season with a lot more parties and Detty December activities. Christmas in Lagos promises love, heartbreaks and a whole lot of fun.
Plot of Christmas in Lagos Movie
Fiyin [Teniola Aladese] returns to Nigeria for the festive season and thinks she has finally found her soulmate in her best friend, Elo [Shalom Obiago] but things take a turn when Elo plans to propose to his secret girlfriend.
Gbemi [Shaffy Bello] is torn between her longtime boyfriend and high school sweetheart. Ivie [Rayxia Ojo] is done with love, she’s back in Nigeria for the sun, concerts and parties but finds herself falling for Ajani [Ladipoe]. Christmas in Lagos movie follows four friends navigating friendship, love and loss during the holiday season.

In an interview with Variety, she recalled being told by studio execs, ‘If we’re going to make a Christmas film, let’s make it the best, biggest, most exciting Christmas film that we can make out of Nigeria. So when anybody sees this, they get a sense for what it’s like to spend Christmas in Lagos, and they want to be there as well’

About Jade Osiberu
Jade Osiberu is a renowned Nigerian director, producer and writer. She studied Computer Engineering at the University and worked as a software developer after graduation before her pivot to filmmaking. In her early days in the industry she worked for Ndani as a producer and writer, on hit web shows like ‘gidi up’ and ‘rumour has it’.
In 2017, she wrote and directed her first feature film, Isoken, a romcom about a single woman at the apex of her career facing pressure from society and family to get married. The film also explored interracial relationships in the Nigerian dating scene.
She won best director for Isoken at the 2018 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards [AMVCA]. Under her production company, Greoh Studios, Jade Osiberu has gone on to create many more amazing films such as Gangs of Lagos, Sugar Rush and Ayinla .
In September 2022, Jade Osiberu’s Greoh studios signed a three year deal with Amazon Prime Video to develop and produce original scripted TV series and feature films. Christmas in Lagos is the first film in the lineup although that deal has now been cancelled due to to Amazon Prime Video halting their original productions in Africa. It did not affect the production of Christmas in Lagos movie.
