Those are the lyrics to Charger by Timaya
Burna Boy to become First Nigerian to headline Madison Square Garden
On Charger, Timaya establishes that his hands “Charge” whatever he puts his hands on.
Lyricism
Timaya does well to continually repeat the word Charger to remind us of the Charger theme that he uses in his song.
This is because the idea of Charger itself is actually totally out of the box.
However, Charger does not have enough lyrics to support the song.
In fact, it gets to a point that Timaya’s frequent repetition of the word Charger is almost too much.
Then, the beats take over most part of the song.
The not-so-satisfactory thing is that you can literally count the number of words spoken on Charger.
The beats almost take take two minutes of the song, while the remaining one minute expresses lyrics about charger– most of which are repetitions.
The lyrics on Charger are not enough at all.
If anything, Timaya should have used more lyrics to support his idea of how he charges things with his hands and make them well.
Delivery
Timaya’s delivery on Charger was not there yet. It does not sound convincing enough at all.
More efforts should have been put in to deliver Charger, as this would have made it a more interesting listen.
Relatability
Because Charger has fewer lyrics, it is less relatable because even the song theme is out of the box, which is not a bad thing.
But this reduces the relatability and replay value.
Flaws
The flaws with Timaya’s Charger are that there are too many lyric-repetition, the glibs are too unrelated with the song, the delivery does not make the song sound sizzling, and the song is not very lyric-embedded.
