About Netflix Classified Series Cast
Imani Pullum plays the character of Ella Gardner, a fifteen year old girl who is forced to move from her home in Oakland to South Africa following her involvement in a protest that could land her in jail. Together with her stepmother, Ella goes undercover to find out about the identity of the terrorist Sussuman, who turns out to be the uncle of her boyfriend. Christine Horn plays the character of Dianne, Ella’s stepmother who is the CIA Station Head in South Africa. She makes a deal with Ella to get her back home to Oakland if Ella would help her out with her investigation without the knowledge of her father. The two become close overtime and arguments and threats ensue between them. Christine Horn is also a major Netflix Classified Series Cast, appearing in all 8 episodes and playing a key role to the plot of the series
Sule Rimi as Gabe, Ella Gardner’s father who left his first wife (Ella’s mother) and married another woman. He moved with her to South Africa where they live with Kwame, their son. He is oblivious to the fact that his daughter has been made an agent by his wife. He suspects this but Ella denies it at the end of the series to protect her deal with Dianne
Nicola Nothnagel as Greta, Paballo Koza as Lolo.
They are Ella Gardner’s friends throughout the series and they help her navigate her new journey in the new school she finds herself in.
Mila Rayne as Gwyn, Luyanda Zwane as Amina, Kelly Damon as Nazli. These three belong to the same clique- run by Gwyn. They would later break up at the end because Gywn sleeps with Nazli’s boyfriend.
Victor Makgati as Noko, Shuwa as Dawoud. They are both Ella’s love interest. Although Ella initially shows interest in Dawoud as the series begins, because he makes her feel like home, she has to get close to Nico to figure out his father’s involvement with Susuman the terrorist. However, over the course of the series, feelings begin to grow between them as a result of their shared experiences and trauma, although Ella denies it. She kisses Nico at the end.
Richard Lunkhunku as Zuri. He is Dawoud’s cool uncle whom Ella really connects with. He goes by the alias “Sussuman”. He is the terrorist and he was later tracked and led to the CIA by Ella herself when she finds out, much to her Stepmother’s ignorance, that he is the terrorist. He is also a major Netflix Classified Series Cast.

Netflix had geared up for the debut of its latest series, Classified, a South African coming-of-age drama with an espionage twist.
The eight-episode series, which was created by South African filmmaker Kagiso Lediga (renowned for the acclaimed 2020 series, Sono Queen, and the 2023 comedy, ROSA: Republic of South Ah Sh**t!), followed the story of Ella Gardner, a 15-year-old student from Oakland, California, whose life took an unexpected turn when she became entangled in a violent protest.
Faced with arrest and the possibility of jail time, Ella was forced to leave California for Johannesburg to live with her estranged South African father to complete her education. However, her world was turned upside down as she transitioned from being a normal teenager to a spy who took on dangerous missions. The series boasted a stellar cast led by Imani Pullum as Ella and rising stars such as Christine Horn, Sule Rimi, Abena Ayivor, Victor Makgati, Nicola Nothnagel, Paballo Koza, and Mila Rayne, among others.
Classified was produced by South African independent production company Diprente in collaboration with US animation giant Skybound Entertainment.
Speaking on the collaboration, Kagiso Lediga, co-founder at Diprente, had said, “This project allowed us to explore the complex world of espionage through the eyes of a teenage protagonist, offering a fresh perspective on the genre. The collaboration with an exceptional cast and crew had truly brought this vision to fruition.”
Kagiso Lediga had doubled as co-director and executive producer for the show. Joining him as directors were Tebogo Malope and Karabo Lediga, with Motheo Moeng serving as cinematographer.
Classified premiered exclusively on Netflix on November 30th, 2023
