Synopsis
Kamala Khan is a 16-year-old high school teenager and a fangirl of the Avengers, particularly Captain Marvel.
After failing another driving test by crashing into her teacher’s car, Khan and her best friend Bruno Carrelli create a plan to attend the Avengers convention “AvengerCon” while avoiding Khan’s parents’ strict rules.
Khan receives a package from her grandmother of old junk from her mother, but is enthralled by a golden bangle.
She takes the bangle to the convention, intending to use it as part of her Captain Marvel cosplay. As she prepares to get on stage, Khan puts on the bangle, which grants her the ability to shoot energy constructs, causing havoc at the convention.
Carrelli rushes Khan home, where she is lectured and grounded by her mother. In a mid-credits scene, Department of Damage Control agents P. Cleary and Sadie Deever watch a video of Khan’s incident at AvengerCon.

Synopsis
With Bruno’s guidance, Kamala begins training to control her powers; the latter deduces that the bangle ignited Kamala’s powers, which originated within her.
Nakia Bahadir, Kamala’s friend, decides to run for office because she is dissatisfied with the male-dominated leadership of their Mosque Board. Kamala, Nakia, and Bruno attend a Zoe-hosted party, where they meet Kamran, a new British-Pakistani senior.
Although the authorities call the party off, Kamala manages to make friends with Kamran.
When Kamala, who is smitten with Kamran, chooses to spend time with him instead of practicing, Bruno feels irritated.
Kamala questions her grandma Sana and Muneeba about Kamala’s great-grandmother Aisha, the original owner of the bangle, after seeing a vision of a mysterious woman and blacking out during a family dinner, but both dismiss her.
According to Yusuf, young Sana had lost her way during the Partition of India’s hostilities, but was able to find her father almost miraculously. Cleary and Deever arrange a sweep in the tri-state area, targeting South Asian communities, after questioning Zoe about her savior at AvengerCon.
A little kid called Hameed slides from a balcony during the annual Eid Al-Adha celebration and nearly falls before Kamala saves him with her powers. She falters for a little moment after seeing the woman again.

Following her unusually rapid success and popularity among comic book readers, Marvel Entertainment’s Creative Consultant Joe Quesada stated in September 2016 that there were plans to explore the character of Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel in other media.
In May 2018, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced that a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) project based on Kamala Khan was “in the works,”and that it will be released after the release of Captain Marvel (2019), as Khan is based on Carol Danvers, the film’s titular character.
By August 2019, Marvel Studios has began work on a Ms. Marvel television series for Disney+, with Bisha K. Ali recruited as the show’s chief writer after previously working on the series Loki. At the 2019 D23 convention, Ms. Marvel was formally introduced.
In September 2020, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (billed as Adil & Bilall) were appointed to direct two episodes of the show, with Meera Menon directing one episode and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy directing three; Menon and Obaid-Chinoy each directed two episodes.
The series’ executive producers include Ali, El Arbi, and Fallah, who worked closely with Marvel Studios to develop it with Kamala Khan co-creator Sana Amanat also serving as an executive producer.
Writing
Kate Gritmon, Freddy Syborn, A. C. Bradley, Matthew Chauncey, Sabir Pirzada, Fatimah Asghar, and Will Dunn are among the series’ writers
Bradley was the head writer, story editor, and writer for What If.., with Bradley also serving as a consulting producer on Ms. Marvel, and Pirzada was a writer for Moon Knight.
Khan obtains the ability to channel cosmic energy and create creations from a magical bracelet in Ms. Marvel, which contrasts with her shapeshifting abilities in the comics. Her capabilities were altered to be tied to her Pakistani origin because the Inhuman root of her abilities in the comics did not “fit” with the timeframe and events of the MCU, according to Feige.
In the film The Marvels (2023), in which Vellani co-stars, they were also brought closer to the cosmic powers of the other heroes.
The character’s “huge hands and arms” will nonetheless feature in the series “in spirit,” according to Feige. G. Willow Wilson, another of the character’s co-creators, was also consulted and supported the modification.
Ms. Marvel is a coming-of-age story, according to Amanat, who notes that the series was inspired by the character’s comics, with the MCU version of the comics’ “quirkiness and artistic difference” and “told through the prism of Kamala’s experience and her wild imagination.”
Given that Jersey City is “a really chaotic, bright, and cosmopolitan environment,” she also described Khan’s life and world as “naturally colorful.”
Khan was inspired to become a hero after witnessing Carol Danvers almost beat Thanos during the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019).
For a young person of color, Amanat thought it was crucial to tell a tale about who their idols are and what that means for their “feeling of self.” Ali wanted to combine “wonderful and magical” with Booksmart.

In September 2020, newcomer Iman Vellani was cast in the lead role of Khan.
