Storyline, Development
Jurassic World Dominion is a 2022 American science fiction action film directed by Colin Trevorrow, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Emily Carmichael and is based on a scenario by Trevorrow and his writing partner Derek Connolly.
It is the follow-up to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), the sixth movie in the Jurassic Park franchise, the final film of the Jurassic World trilogy, and the culmination to the tale begun in the first Jurassic Park trilogy.
Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley produced the film, as did their predecessors, with Trevorrow and Jurassic Park (1993) director Steven Spielberg serving as executive producers.
Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill, BD Wong, Omar Sy, Isabella Sermon, Justice Smith, and Daniella Pineda reprise their roles from the previous films in the franchise, and are joined by DeWanda Wise, Mamoudou Athie, Campbell Scott, Scott Haze, and Dichen Lachman in the ensemble cast.
For the first time since the 1993 picture, Dern, Goldblum, and Neill reprise their roles from the Jurassic Park trilogy.
The film takes place four years after the events of Fallen Kingdom, and dinosaurs now coexist with humans all across the globe.
As part of a future Jurassic World trilogy, the film was planned as early as 2014. Filming began in February 2020, but was put on hold in March due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
It started again in July and ended four months later. Canada, England’s Pinewood Studios, and Malta were among the filming venues.
Jurassic World Dominion debuted in Mexico City on May 23, 2022, and Universal Pictures plans to distribute it in IMAX, 4DX, RealD 3D, and Dolby Cinema in the United States on June 10, 2022.
Legendary Entertainment was not engaged in the film’s development, unlike its two predecessors, because Universal discontinued their four-year agreement with the firm in 2019.
Executive producer Steven Spielberg expressed interest in having further films made during early discussions on Jurassic World (2015) with director Colin Trevorrow.
In April 2014, Trevorrow revealed that Jurassic World sequels were being considered. He explained that they wanted to make something that was less random and episodic, and that could potentially arc into a series that felt complete.
When asked how much planning Trevorrow had put into a trilogy when filming Jurassic World in 2014, he said that he understood where the plot would conclude.
He stated that he planned the trilogy’s beginning, middle, and finale ahead of time.
Frank Marshall, the producer of Jurassic World, has stated that a third Jurassic World film will be released later this year.
According to Universal Pictures Chairman Donna Langley, Trevorrow and Spielberg had a story idea for the movie. Â Chris Pratt, who played Owen in Jurassic World, has been cast in future Jurassic World films.
Trevorrow stated that Owen and Barry (played by Omar Syfriendship )’s in Jurassic World could continue in the sequels.
He also stated that Claire, played by Bryce Dallas Howard, would grow the most over the Jurassic World trilogy.
