The story of the film centers on Kehinde Bankole’s character Adire, a former prostitute who decides to start a lingerie company and relocate to a new town in an effort to start over. But her background and the nature of her business anger the wife of the town’s devout preacher, which sparks a heated argument. She incites the villagers against Adire by claiming that an evil spirit resides in her home and that a church-led purging is necessary. Adire shows up as a combative character in this clash, challenging and subverting the outdated biases and stereotypes of the town.

Adeoluwa Owu, also known as Captain Degzy, is an outstanding TV/film director and director of photography with an eye for original storytelling and a passion for representing the Nigerian and African culture in the global space of film and entertainment.
Owu was born in 1999 in Akure, Ondo State, to Prof. Femi and Bola Owu. He developed an interest in filmmaking at an early age and started making short films with his friends. He studied Theatre Arts at the University of Ibadan, where he won the most outstanding director award by the Nigerian Universities Theatre Arts Festival in 2019.
Since then, Owu has worked with remarkable production houses, producers, and agencies both locally and internationally. He has also collaborated with global brands like CNN, Beyonce, and BBC¹. He has directed and produced over 50 films and TV shows, spanning various genres and themes, such as romance, comedy, drama, thriller, and historical¹.

– The Griot (2021): A historical drama that tells the story of a young man who inherits the mantle of a griot, a traditional storyteller and historian, and his quest to preserve his culture and identity in the face of colonialism and modernization. The film won the Oronto Douglas Award for Best Nigerian Film at the African International Film Festival (AFRIFF) in 2021 and was the second most viewed Nigerian film on Netflix in 2022.
– Blind Date (2021): A romantic comedy that follows the adventures of a young woman who goes on a series of blind dates arranged by her friends, only to discover that each date has a hidden agenda.
