Episode 1

The first Alchemy of Soul Season 2 Episode picks up from the end of the first part. Now, Jang Uk has the power of the ice stone and he is the most powerful person in Daeho. Because of the power he possesses, he has been charged with the sole duty of killing soul shifters. Also, wraiths are drawn to him because of the new power he has and anywhere he goes is chilly.

To an extent, Jang Uk is alone now because he believes that Mu-doek is not dead even though everyone says she is dead.

However, we get another plot twist when we realize that the first daughter of Jinyowon- Bu-yeon, has been found. Our curiosity arises when we learn that she is being kept in a secluded place away from the world. Her mother does not want her to escape and wants to marry her off.

Meanwhile, Jang-Uk chases the soul shifter to her abode in Jinyowon and discovers her there. He promises to set her free.

Episode 2

At the beginning of Alchemy of Soul season 2 Episode 2, Jang-Uk saves Bu-yeon from her forced marriage to one of the men from the Seo family- Yul’s uncle precisely. The Jinyowon family accuse Park Dang-gu of kidnapping the bride since he thought it was the younger daughter- whom he was once engaged to. 

However, he said he had nothing to do with it and Jinyowon is faced with the trouble of where the future priestess is. Jang-Uk introduces Bu-yeon as his intended bride, and at the end of the episode, states categorically that they are married.

Episode 3

At the beginning of Alchemy of Soul season 2 Episode 3, Bu-yeon suffered immense pain because her mother- the leader of Jinyowon, embedded a thread in her back which she used to “call” her daughter home. Jang-Uk went to Jinyowon to destroy it but didn’t exactly show affection to Bu-yeon afterwards. She visits Naksu’s grave- which Jang-Uk had built for her as a memorial, and finds the Yin-Yang jade.  She also remembers some of Naksu’s memories.

At the beginning of Alchemy of Soul season 2 Episode 4, Jang-Uk is furious at Bu-yeon for calling out to him through the Yin-Yang jade. Bu-yeon doesn’t like how she is treated and spends all night rebuilding Naksu’s memorial grave. He begins to get inkling that there is a connection between Naksu and Bu-yeon.

Earlier in the series, Lady Jin and a Master already revealed that Naksu’s body was saved and revived with all of Naksu’s energy- which explains why Bu-yeon is almost powerless (since Naksu shifted in Bu-yeon’s body)

The Former Assistant Gwanju gets an inkling that Bu-yeon might be Naksu and uses sorcery to summon her soul and kill some people. Murder attempts are made to murder Bu-yeon by the queen and the Assistant Gwanju but they fall through

Episode 5 

At the beginning of Alchemy of Soul season 2 Episode 5, we see that Yul is in great trouble as he is dying from the parasite So-I put in his body.

There is no way to remove the parasite and So-I feel really bad about it. Jang-Uk and Bu-Yeon face personal challenges in their marriage which is caused majorly by the fact that Jang-Uk does not want her to get too close to him. He also discovers that the queen wants to dry out the entire world just to get the Ice stone again.

Lady Jin invites both Bu-Yeon and Jang-Uk to Jinyowon to give them their blessings and Jang-Uk uses that opportunity to check if the legendary fire bird is still in Jinyowon. So-I goes to Jinyowon and is held hostage by Lady Jin.

 

Episode 6

Alchemy of Souls season 2 Episode 6 comes on with a discovery by Yul that Bu-yeon is Naksu. Bu-Yeon begins to recollect her memories and wishes to go to the place with the tall tree- which Yul offers to take her too.

At this stage, Jang-Uk is confused that she remembers most of Naksu’s memories.

Yul rescues So-I from Jinyowon an things get immensely tense between The crown prince and Jang-Uk. The Assistant Gwanju sent his mages to bring and kill So-I only for her to be attempted to be rescued by Yul. So-I dies at last and Jang Uk finds out that Yul is death sick.

Alchemy of Souls (Korean: 환혼; Hanja: 還魂; RR: Hwanhon) is a South Korean television series starring Lee Jae-wook, Jung So-min, Go Yoon-jung, and Hwang Min-hyun. Written by the Hong sisters, it depicts the stories of young mages dealing with heaven and earth.

It premiered on tvN on June 18, 2022, and airs every Saturday and Sunday at 21:10 (KST). It is also available for streaming on TVING and Netflix in selected regions.

The series is divided into two parts: Part 1 aired from June 18 to August 28, 2022 for 20 episodes,  while Part 2 (Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow)[a] premiered on December 10, 2022

Set in a fictional country called Daeho, the series is about the love and growth of young mages as they overcome their twisted fates due to a forbidden magic spell known as the “alchemy of souls”, which allows souls to switch bodies.

 

It follows the story of an elite warrior named Nak-su whose soul is accidentally trapped inside the weak body of Mu-deok. She becomes entangled with Jang Uk who is from a noble family, and becomes his servant In January 2021, Park Hye-su’s agency revealed that the actress auditioned for Alchemy of Souls. In June, it was announced that actor Joo Sang-wook was offered a role in the series.

The female lead role was first confirmed to be played by Park Hye-eun [ko]. However, in July 2021, she decided to leave the series after a mutual agreement with the production team. It was stated that although Park is a rookie actress, she prepared hard for the series, but felt a lot of pressure about playing the main character of a big project.

The role was then offered to actress Jung So-min. Jung and director Park Joon-hwa previously worked together in 2017 TV series Because This Is My First Life. Line-up for the lead stars consisting of Lee Jae-wook, Jung So-min, Hwang Min-hyun, Shin Seung-ho, Yoo Jun-sang, Oh Na-ra and Jo Jae-yoon was officially announced by tvN on March 3, 2022.

In August 2021, production companies Studio Dragon and High Quality signed an agreement with Mungyeong City to build a filming site in Maseong-myeon worth ₩5 billion for the production of Alchemy of Souls.

On October 6, 2021, it was announced that filming of the series was canceled for that week after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19 on the morning of the 5th. All production crew members subsequently underwent PCR test. Some staff members who were classified as close contacts went into self-quarantine, even though they tested negative for the contagion.
